Taste of SL is now accepting applications to become an Official Taste of SL Blogger!   Please see the information below:

Bloggers Info

•Of course, we would love any and all coverage for a Taste of Second Life! If you feature an item, items, or the event itself in your blog, please LET US KNOW! We would love to link with your blog! send a notecard to AlexandraM Guisse or Kylie Krell with your name, blog info and your request.

•Please ask individual store owners reguarding their review copy policy. We will be working with official bloggers in the coming weeks to be able to provide select bloggers review copies. Again, please inquire about official TOSL bloggers!

•If you would like to become an official Taste of SL Blogger, please see below!

The qualities we are looking for from applicant blogs are:
*High quality pictures which display the fashion well. Good lighting and photo editing techniques are required.
*Credit for all items used in the photograph, including poses. The name of the item showcased, designer's store and/or name, and slURL for item should be listed.
*Bloggers are not required to have been blogging for a certain number of months, but consistent, focused posts are desired.
*Bloggers should have any relevant Fashion Feeds, Events, and Stores listed on a side bar.
*We would prefer if you have blogged Taste of SL or our member stores previously, but this is not required.
*Other items for review will also be used.

Becoming an Official Taste of SL Blogger:
Officiall Taste of SL Bloggers are required to:
•Have a pre-existing, frequently maintained Second Life Blog
•Have quality photography included
•Highlight Taste of SL Designers
•Post a 'Taste of SL' blog post at least twice a month
•Post 'Taste of SL' blog posts before or during a 'Taste of SL' weekend event
•Relay accurate 'Taste of SL' information on their Blog
•Link correct SLurls to all 'Taste of SL' stores highlighted in their posts
•Will be allowed to post their posts on the official Taste of SL blog

Taste of Second Life Information:

Hey everyone, with the success of various SL grid themed sales events, we've been kicking around a few ideas to get a part of this market share, drive up traffic without giving things away ala grid hunts. We've come up with:

A Taste of SL! (TOSL!)

WHAT is TOSL?: Well, similar to a "Taste of the Town" that dot Friday nights and weekends all over the place, this is a way for each designer to give a potential new customer a taste of their offerings.

WHEN: A Taste of SL will occur every weekend, lasting from 12:01 am on saturday to 11:59 pm on sunday!  All participants must submit their entry by 5pm SLT each friday in order to be included in that weekend's TOSL event1

WHO: Our initial target is to have 25 participants in the group and we'll probably have a limit of 40 to 50 stores total at full capacity.

WHY: We aim to drive up traffic, exposure, and sales at each and every participating store.

HOW will we advertise?  We will be using blogs, as well as relying on each participating store to distribute it to their customer group/subscriber list.  Other media outlets such as facebook, plurk, and other inworld marketing groups. 24 hours prior to the sales event we will announce in group who is involved and what they are offering on a list.

PRICING: We've decided to ask that the sales item for the event be priced at 50% off normal pricing and not be higher than L$250. This should give us a broad range of offerings for everyone!

THEMES: Each week's event will be themed, and we will keep an eye out for generally fitting the theme.  If what you submit prior to the deadline doesn't fit the them we're going to ask you to try it again or skip the event. Themes will be announced on Monday each week, but will be available in advance on the TOSL blog (

We're not big on rules but we do like some organization so here are the basics:
A. At least one avi from your organization must be in the TOSL vendors group.
B. Sales events will run Saturday and Sunday and and announced to shoppers late Friday night and again on Saturday and Sunday Mornings. Your deadline for participation is Friday 5pm and your item will need to be put out by Midnight Saturday SLT. There is a dropbox set up at the Alexohol Mainstore for you to put your weekly offering
C. Themes will be announced on Mondays. Want a sneak peek at next weeks or the themes of the month? Check the blog @
D. Does it have to be a new item? No, but it should be something current at least released within the last 60 days and not used in the sale within the last month
E. Do I have to participate every time? No. But, we'd like you to :) Minimum participation is one weekend each month.
F. Please have your group joiner sign out and visible! It must be out for the sales event and we'd prefer it if you put it out full time.
